**The Del Lago Green Team made Delly the Bottlenose Dolphin.

**You can only vote one time from each computer.  No registration or email needed to vote.

Our story:

In September, Mrs. Televik shared the Made by Milk contest with the PTA executive board.  It was such a different and potentially fun project that she wanted us to consider doing it.   The information was given to Pam, the PTA Recycling Chair, with the intent of finding out if it was a feasible project.  We decided to give the project a try and see if it was even possible to get it done by the November 18 deadline.  Since our school mascot is the dolphin, we figured we should attempt to make a dolphin using the milk cartons; Pam used recycled cardboard to make the frame of the dolphin.  Then they spent days collecting milk and juice cartons as well as the recycled paper.

Once the materials were gathered, the Green Team students were invited to spend a portion of their lunch recess helping with the construction and completion of the project.  Pam, Laura, and all the Green Team students put in about a hundred hours in order to complete DELLY THE BOTTLENOSE DOLPHIN on time.  We hope you take a few minutes to vote for our submission.

If we win the prize money, we will use it to restore the eroded slope  and create a California native, drought-tolerant garden at the school.

No More Ink Recycling

For years, the PTA has been collecting ink cartridges and recycling them for cash.  Unfortunately, the recycling companies have put strict requirements on the types of ink cartridges they pay for that it is no longer a profitable program.

Therefore, the PTA will no longer be collecting them.

We appreciate all the ink cartridges that people have brought in over the years and hope that you will find a different place to recycle them.

Meet the Master

Joan Miro (1893-1983)

Last Friday, Del Lago student artists learned about the dreamlike surreal style of Joan Miro.  This week, using abstract shapes, the children challenge their imagination to change reality into a special world where anything is possible. We hope your mini artists are enjoying this program brought to you through the PTA.

Let’s Walk to School Together

Wednesday, November 4

Last month, we participated in the National Walk to School Day and many parents and children really enjoyed the activity.  Therefore, we would like to encourage you to walk to school together on November 4.

  • If you live close enough to the school, we encourage you to get your neighbors together and walk. Please choose the safest route and make

sure you leave early enough to make it to school on time.

  • If you live too far away to walk, consider asking a friend to park at their house so you can walk as a group.

  • A group of parents and students are meeting at Crucero Park on the corner of Hidalgo and Camargo. The group will leave the park

at approximately 7:45 am. All are welcome to join this group walking to school.
